guess who's back!!! : ))) brace yourself for a mofoing long post!

day 1+2:

at changi airpot testing out the camera. it takes either really bright or really dark photos, and good photos are rare. i have a thousand pictures of my gramma in my camera, she's one photowhore.

after a ten-and-a-half hour flight to auckland, a domestic flight to christchurch and yet another flight, we finally reached dunedin! the sun works hard in new zealand, the sun rises around 5a.m. and sets around 10p.m.!

statue outside the airport

we went to dump our luggage bags, picked up our pizzas and headed over to my sister's for dinner and packed her really messy room. put a whole lot of good stuff outside the salvation army (which was closed), when we went back fifteen minutes later to get this weighing machine that my sister's friend wanted, all her stuff was gone already! gramma and mum went to the casino, we went to watch chronicles of narnia with my sister's friend and her friend's siblings. loads of leg room in the cinema! but tickets are priced around NZ$11.50 and they only have salty popcorn.

view from my sister's house
day 3:

graduation day!!! first we went to school for the reception..

new zealand's oldest and leading university

modern-looking part of the campus

food at the biochemistry reception

exciting reads

sister and her professor

the graduates got flowers (i forgot the name). rozana got orange (matches her bright outfit haha) and sister got a pink one! rozana (i think that's her name) wanted a picture with my "cute grandmother" (quoted) : )

my cutest ahma and rozana

us!

outside her dilapidated biochemistry building

me / sister

clock tower

big eyes / tiny eyes

my sister's best friend in school

knox church

the two mothers walking to the town hall

the street, looks like it came from one of those video games

selling skate stuff which are not cheap

then we had the parade! graduation is a big thing in town. they closed a few main roads for this march, and everyone was standing around watching and taking pictures.

give way to the procession!

police car to make way for the parade

my fellow bagpipers

flags

spotted them!

stopping for a picture

where the ceremony was held

the hall itself

going up to receive the certificate

one interesting speech punctuated with maori and a really loud "OOTAAAAGOOOOOO!" and the rest of the speeches put us to sleep.. the reception had champagne, quiche and some other food. i was starving! so we got dinner at..

where they sell good fish&chips!

chompchomp i love to eat

we got blue cod, fries, kumara (this sweet potato-like thing, in fried form) and a deep-fried moro bar : ) i lost my all-time favourite mac eyeliner : ((( it fell out of my jacket pocket.

day 4:

we took a walk in the botanic garden. my grandmother is cool in her nicole richie sunglasses! nicole and mum have a strange obsession with flowers.

my purple ticket to the cadbury chocolate factory

gold ingots! not. just a mountain of crunchie.

the tour was pretty cool! but it wasn't a working day cos it was a sunday, so didn't get to see a few things (and no workers to give out MANY bars of free chocolate!). i loved this tall tower where you climb to the top and then you see TONNES of chocolate pour out to the bottom! MMM!!! just like a waterfall! cadbury drinks are yummm too.

cool cadbury car

and another one

and one more

cadbury bunny

would you believe it, this is a freaking prison

day 5:

we flewwwww to auckland! where it was almost TEN degrees hotter. about twenty degrees celsius in auckland.

last look at dunedin

day 6:

my sister and i went to some bridge to do bungy jumping!!! it's SCARY SHIT! we have the dvd of us and it's absolutely hilarious! i couldn't stop laughing before my jump and my sister practically tumbled out of the gondola. WHAT an adrenaline rush!

we comforted our weak hearts and pounding heads with dunkin donuts!

winery

while we were being scared shitless, the senior citizens/le lings/LLs (as we prefer to refer to them as) went for a wine tour. i don't like the taste of wine, it's too overpowering. i tried the one they bought and i gave up after three sips.. nicole and sister drank most of it.

day 7:

we took a bus, the link, to various places! first stop: victoria park market! i haven't mentioned that my mum and grandmother LOVE souvenir shops. they HAVE to stop at every single one. anyway, after going into a few million gift shops, something else finally caught their attention..

shop selling legal weed, party pills, cigars, tobacco blahblahblah

our harvest of sins (the pack of cards is from some designer shop though)

free marijuana magazine!!!

i didn't know there was such a thing as 'legal' weed which also gives you energy and makes you happy. there are also legal party pills available in new zealand. my sister says they sell weed at some place near her school every friday. fridays must be weedays! there's a national organisation for the reform of marijuana laws (NORML NZ inc), oh and singapore was mentioned in the marijuana magazine, for the hanging of nguyen tuong van.

next stop: ponsonby! a lot of bakeries here haha. and award-winning ones at that. i think there was a best hairdresser (awarded by metro in 2005) too.

next stop: parnell! lots of designer shop sand specialised stores here, including a chocolate boutique : )

next stop: broadway! loads of shopping.. a very big route 66 and a huge supre!

anyone up for a game of chess?

big ass chessboard!!!

i love berries! here we have:
raspberries, boysenberries, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries and gooseberries.

perfect carrots

look what i found!!!

diet coke flavours we don't get

very walkable places in close proximity to new world

day 9:

i was really bummed to the max when i opened my wallet and saw only S$64 inside because someone stole my money : ((( don't even know at which hotel that happened because usually i just put my wallet in my crumpler bag and stuff twenties in my jacket. i was saving most of my money for the last day! lesson well-learnt, never leave your valuables in hotel, no matter which hotel it is.

walking around the arts centre..

apparition!

we took a really long time finding the fudge cottage. there were three very cute grandmotherly ladies selling the fudge. they really look like fudge-selling grandmothers! but i didn't get a shot of them : (

inside the fudge cottage

outside the maori art gallery

last shopping trip!!!

my sister's skirt is shorter than mine (you can see her undies when she walks)

my mum's new jade bracelet

my mum's new shirt!

nicole's really cool because of her nicole richie shades, cute hats, wanting to bungy jump and because she wanted a handphone strap kind of thing, we chose one that says "out of range" for her!!! hahaha. she didn't join us on day 9 because she was very tired from walking far ass distances. thankfully she didn't, although lunch was really good, we took a few kilometres walk from the city centre (where lunch was at) to westfield shopping mall.. omgah wanted to die.

hagley park

cute grape things

cute grape things with flowers

i love supre!

all blacks stuff

part of their harvest from souvenir shops (spent at least NZ$200-$400 on these)

we bought christmas version toilet paper!!!

snowmen and christmas trees!

some of our chocolates

most of our finished food products

sister's legs and mine (i hate my knees!)

nicole and me

we bought this umbrella thinking it was huge ass..

it opened up to be very short..

and very small (lovin' the wind, man)

at christchurch airport

cute reindeer!

machines

we were trying our luck on the finding nemo toys! almost got a black one : ( we were trying to get rid of our coins. anyway the flight back to singapore took forever! three of us were separated (my sister took another flight) and i was surrounding by angmoh LLs. entertained myself during the flight with inflight entertainment, ipod, dolly magazine, sleeping, eating and going to toilet. singapore is totally hot and humid! i swear i could feel the water vapour as i stepped out of the airport. anyway it was pretty fun despite the high blood pressure from arguments with my mum, the eyeliner and my money. ok must get my eyeliner replaced asap! anyway managed to retrieve this post because mozilla firefox was slow in refreshing but i still took a long time to complete everything because of font problems. i triumph over blogger! off to meet my lovely sijia now : )
